FAMES in Granada: A Week Dedicated to Semiconductor Innovation

FAMES will be present in Granada for an exceptional week that brings together two important international events in the semiconductor field:

  • the IRDS/ISRDS Workshops (18–19 May, 2026)
  • EuroSOIULIS 2026 (20–22 May, 2026).

These events, held consecutively, make Granada a focal point for discussions on device technologies, materials, and long‑term semiconductor roadmaps.

Together, these events gather leading experts from industry, academia and research organisations, and represent a good opportunity for networking discussions across disciplines and stakeholders.

Throughout the week, FAMES will be present in Granada with a dedicated booth, offering participants the opportunity to meet the team and learn more about the Pilot Line and its Open‑Access opportunities. FAMES experts will also contribute as speakers to the IRDS/ISRDS programme and EuroSOI‑ULIS conference. A tutorial on 2D Materials will also highlight the forefront research carried out in FAMES in this area.

FAMES is proud to contribute to these discussions and to support the collective effort to shape the next generation of semiconductor technologies.

18-19 May, 2026: IRDS-ISRDS Event

During two days, experts will present the latest updates of the main IRDS chapters and discuss new directions in computing, as well as emerging materials and devices for future information processing.

  • Day 1 – IRDS Annual Update of Roadmap Summaries

IRDS represents the main international roadmap of the electronic industry. The key challenges and possible solutions for materials, devices and systems over the next 15 years will be highlighted.

  • Day 2 – ISRDS (International Symposium on Roadmapping Devices and Systems)

The ISRDS will focus on new computing paradigms (neuromorphic, probabilistic, reversible, quantum) and new directions in materials and devices, including 2D and ferroelectric materials, steep‑slope devices, quantum materials and devices, spintronics, and cryogenic electronics.

19 May, 2026: Tutorial “New Materials for Electronics”

A dedicated tutorial on 2D materials will be presented, introducing their properties, integration challenges, and their potential for next‑generation electronic devices. Several experts will contribute to the session, including a speaker from the FAMES Pilot Line initiative, bringing insights from Europe’s efforts to advance high‑performance semiconductor technologies.

Francisco Gamiz, FAMES speaker, will hold a presentation on ‘More-than-Moore Applications based on 2D Materials’.

20-22 May, 2026: EuroSOI‑ULIS 2026

The 12th Joint EuroSOI Workshop and International Conference on Ultimate Integration on Silicon (EuroSOI‑ULIS 2026) brings together scientists and engineers to discuss SOI technologies and advanced microelectronic devices in an interactive and collaborative environment. Its goal is to foster strong links between academia, research institutes and industry, encouraging dialogue and new partnerships.

Several FAMES contributions are accepted and will be presented.
