FAMES at ESSERC 2026 in Palma de Mallorca: Scientific Exchange and Collaboration
From 7 to 10 September 2026, the FAMES Pilot Line team participated at the 2026 IEEE European Solid-State Electronics Research Conference – ESSERC2026 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
Presenting FAMES at the 52nd edition of ESSERC ensured that the latest results from the FAMES Pilot Line reached a highly specialised international audience at a time when the studies were mature enough to support in-depth technical discussions and receive valuable feedback from experts in the field.
The workshop “FD-SOI Pilot Line Insights and Perspective” was held at ESSERC because it is one of the most prestigious and widely recognised conferences in Europe in the fields of semiconductor devices, integrated circuits, and electronic systems. By bringing together leading researchers from academia and industry, the conference provided an ideal forum for presenting high-impact research and fostering scientific exchange. One of FAMES’ goals is to impact the ecosystem and primarily European stakeholders through its technologies. ESSERC was therefore a prime venue to reach this community and to raise European awareness of what the project has already delivered and will deliver in the future.
Sharing FAMES latest scientific Results and Technologies
After two and a half years, the FAMES Pilot Line has delivered significant technical results. This workshop saw high-level FAMES experts highlight some of these breakthroughs, providing a deep dive into the key technologies investigated in FAMES such as the development of FD-SOI at 10nm and 7nm nodes, combined with non-volatile memories (NVM) and 3D options, RF components and smart PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit). This paves the way for the delivery of high-performance, low-power consumption solutions for future chips.
Four Days of Valuable Discussions
Participants took this unique opportunity to meet and network with some of FAMES’s top experts, discussing technological challenges and future collaboration opportunities during and after the workshop and at the FAMES booth throughout the week. The significant presence of FAMES partners at ESSERC, whether as workshop speakers or paper presenters, enriched the discussions at the booth. There was a lot of interest in the FDSOI technology, particularly the newly launched Pathfinding PDK, from many academics as well as industrials and start-ups who visited the booth.
These conversations are an essential part of the project’s mission to support innovation across the European semiconductor value chain.
It was also an opportunity to strengthen our ties with the other Pilot Lines present in Palma, particularly with NanoIC.
