From 18 to 22 May 2026, the FAMES Pilot Line team was in Granada, Spain, for a week dedicated to semiconductor innovation, taking part in both the IRDS/ISRDS Event and the EuroSOI-ULIS Conference.
The events brought together researchers, students and technology experts from across Europe and beyond, creating an excellent opportunity to share results, discuss future challenges and strengthen collaborations within the semiconductor community.
FAMES was strongly represented throughout the week, with a number of speakers speakers contributing to the technical programmes.
The IRDS/ISRDS Event included a tutorial on New Materials for Electronics, featuring a contribution from Francisco Gámiz, a FAMES partner, together with other experts working on future semiconductor technologies.
At EuroSOI-ULIS, FAMES researchers presented several papers covering a wide range of topics, including advanced FD-SOI device architectures, process integration, reliability, 2D materials integration, RF technologies and scaling challenges for future technology nodes. These contributions showcased the diversity of research activities carried out within the FAMES ecosystem and the expertise of its partners.
Beyond the conference sessions, the FAMES booth provided an opportunity to meet participants throughout the week and discuss ongoing projects, technological challenges and future collaboration opportunities. These conversations are an essential part of the project’s mission to support innovation across the European semiconductor value chain.
The FAMES team would like to thank everyone who attended the presentations, visited the booth and contributed to the many discussions throughout the week.
A special thank you goes to Francisco Gámiz, the University of Granada, the SiNANO’s team and the local organising teams for their warm welcome and the excellent organisation of both events!
Hosted with the support of the University of Granada, the week offered an excellent setting for scientific exchange, dissemination and networking. We return with new ideas, new contacts and renewed motivation to continue building the future of semiconductor innovation in Europe.
